Writing (for students at a Private school, Cheltenham Festivals and the proximity of Stratford-Upon-Avon add a new dimension to school field trips). In Mathematics, Rendcomb students have taken part in ‘Maths Challenge’ events at other schools, with some progressing to the British Maths Olympiad. Science is another subject which draws Rendcomb Private school to Cheltenham for its excellent Science Festival. Geography field trips have included Cheddar Gorge, Gloucester and Snowdonia.
History students visited Chepstow Castle. Modern language study is enhanced by overseas visitors and the school has recently visited Berlin, Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler and Montpellier
Psychology, Economics and Design Technology are popular subjects - newer subjects to some parents, but very much part of academic life for students at a modern Private school in Cheltenham.
Art, Music and Drama at a Private school in Cheltenham
Private schools have a reputation for offering the tuition time and facilities for the pursuit of study in Arts and Music. The area around Rendcomb has a musical inheritance that includes the Three Choirs Festival, Holst, Elgar and world-standard Music Festivals (both Jazz and Classical) - all naturally of great interest to a Private school in Cheltenham. The Senior Jazz Ensemble has taken part in the Cheltenham Jazz Festival, whilst the school has also visited the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden - as well as taking a Music Tour to Venice. All very exciting experiences for pupils from a Private school in Cheltenham.
Drama studies are enhanced by theatre tours to London, school productions and activities such as an ‘International Stars Concert’ when Rendcomb’s overseas students take over to introduce aspects of their own cultures.
The Art Department at Rendcomb focuses on individual talent and exposes pupils to outside influence through artist visits or school visits to cultural centres - New York was a recent visit. A highlight is MAD (Music, Art and Drama) Week at the end of the Summer Term, which involves professional musicians, artists, and theatre companies visiting our Private school at Cheltenham over a period of three days.
